A typical 12" Miter Saw will deliver more cutting capacity in both crosscut and vertical cutting height compared to a 10" miter saw. With its smaller blade, a 10" saw typically has less blade run out and deflection, and is frequently more accurate and ideal for making specialty cuts.

Makita power cutters come with a five-stage filter system with Advanced Directional Air Flow for increased performance and easy maintenance. The foam pre-filter should be checked and cleaned daily or at least every four operating hours when cutting with high dust amounts. When cutting wet or when cutting steel, the foam pre-filter should be cleaned weekly or every 25 operating hours (never use compressed air to clean the filters). The smaller inner filter can be washed in lukewarm soapy water with regular dishwashing liquid or Makita filter cleaner, and allowed to air dry. The paper air filter insert can be slightly opened and tapped against a clean surface, but should never be washed. Yes. Each terminal includes a CR2450 3-Volt Lithium Coin Cell Battery already installed. It is recommended that you keep extra battery cells on hand as you will not be able to unlock your batteries on the Terminal if the battery is dead. Note that your Terminal will show a warning light when the battery is low (image at right). It is also a good practice to keep an extra Terminal on the job site as a back-up in the event of a dead battery -- this precaution will help prevent down time during battery changes.
There are three light-indicators on your Sync Lock™ Terminal:
1. Registration: When this is lit and the side-switch is set on Registration, your terminal will allow you to set new PIN numbers for your batteries and/or Terminal.
2. Timer: When this is lit and the side switch is set on Timer mode, you may assign lock-out schedules to your batteries. Note that the PIN must be assigned to each battery before you can set the lock-out schedule.
3. Warning: The Warning light indicates that the Terminal and battery PIN do not match. The Warning light also signals a low battery -- this is your signal to replace your battery with a new CR2450 3V Lithium Coin Cell Battery. Note that with a dead battery, you will not be able to unlock your batteries, so it is advised to keep extra batteries on-hand, and also to keep one extra Terminal with battery as back-up.
When connected to your computer or laptop with the connector cable, the side-switch settings (image at right) allow you to do a number of functions:
1. Registration: Set new PIN numbers for your batteries and/or Terminal.
2. Timer: Assign lock-out schedules to your batteries. Note that the PIN must be assigned to each battery before you can set the lock-out schedule.
Once a PIN has been assigned to the Terminal while connected to your computer or laptop, the Terminal is ready to program your batteries. With the Terminal connected or un-connected to your computer or laptop -- and with the side-switch on Registration -- simply slide on an un-programmed battery onto the Terminal. When the tone sounds and the Registration light blinks, the PIN has been assigned to that battery. From there, if the timer has already been set to the Terminal, you can switch the setting to Timer mode, which will also set the Lock-Out Time.
A User Name can further identify the Terminal to the particular person or project.
Always click "OK". The Registration Data PIN you just entered prior to seeing this message must be the same as the Timer Cross PIN when setting battery lock-out times. Note that if the Registration Cross PIN is still set at the default setting of four zeroes (0 0 0 0), it will ensure that you are able to program new batteries simply by sliding them onto the Terminal (note: side switch must be set at Registration).
With your Terminal connected to a computer or laptop equipped with the Sync Lock™ software, go to Registration Setting to set up a new Registration Data Setting PIN and User Name. See the Quick Start Guide for additional information.
If you changed the Registration Cross PIN from the default setting of four zeroes (0 0 0 0), you will need to change it back to the default PIN. With your Terminal connected to your computer or laptop, change your Registration Cross PIN to four zeroes (0 0 0 0) and hit "Transmit". Wait for the tone, then unplug your Terminal. Now, with the side-switch set at "Registration', slide the battery onto the Terminal, wait for the tone and the Registration light to flash. The battery is now programmed and can be removed. To change your Registration Cross PIN back to your previous setting, connect your Terminal with a computer or laptop and change your Registration Cross PIN. As mentioned, we recommend that you leave the Registration Cross Pin at the default setting of four zeroes for ease-of-use.
Leave the Registration Cross PIN at the default setting of four zeroes (0 0 0 0). Your Terminal will arrive with this setting.
Keep an extra Terminal on the job site as a back-up in the event of a dead battery -- this precaution will help prevent down time during battery changes.
Have extra battery cells on hand in your job box or job site. You will not be able to unlock your batteries on the Terminal if the battery is dead. Note that your Terminal will show a warning light when the battery is low. This precaution will help prevent down time during battery changes.
On the job site, keep your Terminal(s) on Timer Mode. This is the most common setting for everyday use. If it is not set on Timer Mode, the Terminal will not read your batteries.
If you have a large job site, it is recommended to have multiple Terminals (example: one Terminal per floor). This ensures faster processing of multiple batteries.
To un-program a battery, it is best to have a Sync Lock™ on-hand set at the Timer-Cancel setting in order to quickly clear batteries. It may be convenient to have your tool crib manager have a Terminal on this setting so batteries can be quickly swiped to remove the current timing settings.
Remember to first de-program all of your batteries by setting the Timer Cross Pin to the default setting of four zeroes (0 0 0 0), and swiping all batteries. You can return your Sync Lock™ to your Dealer.
